This is the image for the news article titled CROSS COUNTRY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPBrooklyn’s cross country team competed with eleven other teams for the conference championship on Wednesday. One hundred and seventy boys ran the first race and the Brooklyn runners were led, as they were all year, by Owen Tracy who finished eighth with Hayden Ferland ninth, Camden Nason 12th, Caleb Mowrey twentieth and Owen Hamilton twenty-third (the latter two just fifth graders). The boys placed second to complete a sensational season. Only one of 166 girls placed ahead of Avery Mowrey in the girls race. Izzy Prindle, running for more than a mile with a cramp, grabbed the fourth spot. Mia Sorrentino finished fourteenth, Liliana Moran 17th and Rose Lopez 21st (the latter two also fifth graders). The girls placed third behind Woodstock and a mere three points in back of Griswold. To put that three points in context, Brooklyn finished 105 points ahead of the fourth place team. The girls were also awarded the regular season, large school plaque having previously beaten both Woodstock and Griswold. Brooklyn runners can all take great pride in conquering the demanding, championship course. The largest ever contingent of our runners will continue training to run in the state championship at Wickham Park on November third.
