This past Thursday 2 of the 8th-grade classes visited Woodstock Academy for the Human Rights Conference,
From Education to Action.  The BMS students were some of the youngest 8th-12th-grade students participating and the focus of this conference was to raise awareness of human rights issues that occur in our own backyards. Students were able to learn about some mature topics from topic experts or advocates. Some of the topics included: homelessness rights, healthcare rights, food insecurity, genocide, disability rights and many more. The 8th graders were very impressive with their behavior, maturity, and interest in these difficult topics. The Grade 8 team would also love to congratulate Stella Atchinson, Izzy Prindle and Caira Stevens for being chosen as panel participants. At the end of the conference, these students were asked to share their reflections or insight into topics discussed throughout the day. We are very proud of them for having the courage to stand up and share their words with the ENTIRE conference.
