The Brooklyn track team recently wrapped up its season. The boys were led by Jack Sharpe who, remarkably,  met the qualifying standards for the Connecticut Middle School Championship in five events (100M, 200M, 400M, Long Jump and High Jump). Jack won the long jump competition at the conference championship, ran the second fastest 100M, placed third in the 400M and took second in the 200M. Jack was injured running the 200 and is now on crutches which, sadly, prevented his participation in the state championship. The boys 4X1 team of Will Worthington, Owen Tracy, Noah Colangelo and Xavier Alers placed second at the championship while  Billy Carver took fifth in the 1600M. Besides Jack, Brooklyn boys qualifying for the state championship included Xavier Alers, shot put, Noah, 100M, Cody Ferrara, 800M and Billy and Owen in the 1600M. The boys finished 4th (out of twelve teams) at the conference championship.

The girls were led by Linsey Arends. Linsey won the 800M and 1600M at each conference track meet this year (including the conference championship). This completed Linsey’s amazing record in eighth grade in which she won every individual conference race she entered in both cross country and track. Magda Myslenski placed fifth in the discus with Alyssa Newson finishing  2nd in the 200M and 3rd in the 400M at the conference championship. Girls who qualified for the state championship included Magda in the discus, Alyssa in the long jump, 200M and 400M, Sophia Mejia for the 800M and Linsey in the 800M and 1600M. At the Connecticut Middle School Championship, held at Manchester High School, Alyssa placed twelfth in the 400M (out of sixty-nine runners)and Linsey took fifth in the 800M and fourth in the 1600M. The Brooklyn girls finished tied for ninth in the state. It was a good year for Brooklyn track filled with great times (pun intended), sweat, laughter and camaraderie. Photo Gallery
